Oshwal Youth League has existed informally since 1928 as part of Visa Oshwal Community and Oshwal Education and Relief Board. It was then formally registered as an independent society in 1954. The initial focus of The League was to promote a sense of belonging amongst the young Oshwals through sports, entertainment, volunteering and tackling social issues prevalent at that time.
In 1970, -Women’s Wing was founded under Oshwal Youth League as a sub-committee. The Primary objective of this sub-committee was to focus and encourage women to participate in community service.
Back in Easter 1979, the first Oshwal Youth Festival was held by the Oshwal Youth League, which it is now known as the Oshwal Games with the aim of incorporating sports, educational activities and cultural entertainment.
Over the years Oshwal Youth League and Women’s Wing have organized varies projects such as Art Competitions, Natak (Drama), Antakshri, Children’s Diwali parties, Dinner and Dance, Treasure Hunt , Hiking , Trivia Night, Cultural and Talent Shows, Navratri celebrations, Meet and Match, Peddle Kart and many more.
The most significant projects to date for Oshwal Youth League and Women’s Wing has been helping the less fortunate and the environment through Community Outreach, Cornea Donation, Tree Planting, Building and Refurbishment at various Charitable Institutions and many more.
As they always say the Youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. We at Oshwal Youth League see a very bright future for Oshwals in Kenya.
